Story-time, Gabi style
February 15, 2008
Gabi-Tell me a story. A princess story from your mouth.
Mom-Ok, lay down and I will tell you a story.
Gabi-From your mouth. Not the book kind.
Mom-Ok. Now lay down. Once there was a princess……
Gabi-NO! Lots of princesses.
Mom-Once there were 5 princesses……….
Gabi-I need water.
Mom-Ok. Lay down and I’ll go get you some water. But lay down!
Gabi-Ok.
Mom-Here’s your water. Now, let’s tell that story.
Gabi-No, no, no! I want 3 stories.
Mom-No, just this one story.
Gabi-No, I want 5 stories.
Mom-No, now, lay down and I’ll tell you this ONE story
.Gabi-It’s from your mouth and it’s got LOTS of princesses in it.
Mom-Yes. Now lay down. Ok, there are 5 princesses and their names are Kateri, Mariah, Arianna, Maddi and Gabriella. They all have horses with wings so that they can fly wherever they want to go.
Gabi-NO! They are the DANCING kind of princesses.
Mom-Ok! Their flying horses take them to the princes’ castle that’s in the middle of a beautiful garden of pink flowers.
Gabi-NO! They are the DANCING kind of princesses.
Mom-THEY ARE AT THE PRINCES’ CASTLE TO DANCE FOR ALL THE LOVELY LADIES OF THE LAND!
Gabi-Yes, they are the dancing kind of princesses………………
Whew!
The ONE story took me about 1/2 an hour to get through, once I knew all of the rules! It was a good and precious experience. This littlest princess of mine knows what she wants!
To bedtime stories…….
Good night~

Persistent little one isn’t she? She knew exactly what story she wanted to hear come out of your mouth. Now it’s her turn to tell you a story “from the mouth”.
This is Exactly why I LOVE her! She does know what she wants…so beautiful and strong. Thank you for her! Can’t wait to hug, kiss and laugh with, all of you! Here’s to today xoxoxo
Got to love lil’ Gabs. She’s definitely her own person. I have to say I loved the whole “from your mouth” thing, never heard it put like that before.
I’m glad you have that memory.
xoxo
Hee hee! She sounds like Coby & Tate. They always ask for a “make- up story” (not the book kind) and let us know who the characters should be.— usually a lion, a truck driver, pirate, cheetah. Or they ask for a “Sophie story”; I had a continuing “saga” about a guardian angel named Sophie who appeared as a 4 year old girl and befriended Coby & Tate. I ran out of creative juice though, so Daddy takes over the “make- up” stories these days.
Ok – can I come be a princess with you too? I’ll bring my daughter, who has never once heard a princess story from her mama…boy, jen – you are one patient, loving mama…
I think you should take those words you typed in and find a publisher!! I’ll do the illustrations!! Call it “Gabi’s bedtime story from Mama’s mouth”
Marie
I think Marie is on the right track. I love the idea of having small children “write” stories!
Perhaps you should write down what Gabi “dictates” to you and then have the two of you engage in “editing sessions” until the stories are “just right”.
I do not underestimate the power of small children’s ideas! Please consider:
* A three-year-old girl got her inventor father (named Edwin Land) to consider the possibility of instant photography. The rest, of course, is history: Such photo taking eventually became part of many Americans’ lives. For more information, please refer to:

(especially the second paragraph in the “Land’s company” section)
* A four-year-old girl was instrumental in the founding of an organization that raises money for pediatric cancer treatment. For more details, please refer to:
