Mommy of Many Loves-THE OCEAN!
June 24, 2008
After a long and tiring day, where I was bitten by the “must clean and organize” bug, I decided to unwind and go down to the beach. I hardly EVER do this, which is ridiculous! We live SO close to the beach and I always find a reason not to go. I think I’m afraid that if I go too often that I will give up housekeeping and paperwork and laundry all together and become a beach-bum. It’s really the only reason I can come up with, because the second that I get close enough to smell and feel the change in the air, something comes alive in me! I am completely drawn to the water which might explain why I’m married to a Navy man. I also think it’s in my blood because I am the descendant of Portuguese fishermen. I wish I could bottle the feel I get from seeing the water.
I truly hope that each of you have something in your lives that makes you feel as good as the ocean makes me feel and that you get to enjoy it from time to time!
Good night~
P.S. I must admit that seeing Rod Stewart in concert would SURELY compare to the feeling that the ocean gives me. I just know it! ![]()

I agree about the Ocean. And I agree that it does make you give up on the whole worrying about the house thing…. but that’s what summer if for! Go back as soon as possible!!!
Portuguese fishermen?!! Are you my long lost cousin? My mom’s side of the family immigrated from the Azores. My great grandfather was the last whaler out of New Bedford, MA (where they had settled down) and his schooner, the John R. Manta is at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. His name is Antone Mandly. Actually, it was Mandoza, but to avoid prejudice, he Americanized it. A funny story… growing up, we celebrated Thanksgiving with steak and shrimp bc my grandfather hated turkey. Obviously the Portuguese don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but we did with a different flair to the meal
We’ve finally moved back to the coast, and I haven’t yet had a chance to get down to the beach. I don’t like crowds, and sunshine and sand make me get all twitchy…but a nice moonlit stroll on the beach is a thing of beauty!
I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ANY BEACH!! THAT PICTURE IS AMAZING. I’M GLAD YOU WERE A SMART ENOUGH MOMMA TO TAKE A BREAK!! I ONLY HAVE ONE LIL’ ONE SO FAR, AND I LITERALLY HAVE TO MAKE MYSELF TAKE A BREAK. IT’S THAT DARNED “MOMMY SYNDROME”. HOPE YOU GO BACK TO THAT BEAUTIFUL BEACH!
