Dang, I’m totally impressed. That park always scared the crap outta me.. I was sure each of my children would go in completely different directions (don’t forget one is blind!) and I’d have Sophie’s choice.. which one to run after?!
Sure enough it always worked out -for the kids- I always had a couple of heart attacks, and a few run in’s with helicopter parents, but the kids enjoyed themselves!

Love that the kids are helping out like that and that you followed through with their suggestions! Makes them feel valued and considered, I’m sure!

I totally love this! People always think that with so many kids, “you” can’t possibly met all their “needs” – but really, that just shows what a limited view of the possibilities of the older “kids” they have. As the “big kids” become young adults, we treat them as young adults because in a big family, their skills are valued. I’m not saying smaller families don’t do that, but the temptation to treat them as drags on mom’s time and effort instead of contributing members of society is stronger in a smaller family, methinks…

Sounds like fun. I love hearing how the older kids are helping with the younger kids; that’s great! I need to get back to my sick baby 103 fever for 3 days now.

I think that is so neat. Sometimes with time and children, we mommies can get a little tired and more prone to making excuses to NOT do something. Sounds like you have some great older children.
