Last night I attended the first of a string of ornament exchanges and Holiday parties. I have to admit that I wasn’t really ready to jump into the Season even though I know it’s around the corner. But there’s nothing better to get you into the spirit than a little Christmas music, some great food to overindulge in, a beautifully decorated house, Christmas presents and a real tree. How this amazing woman was able to have a REAL Christmas tree BEFORE Thanksgiving is beyond me, but she did it! By the end of the evening I was ready to get home and pull out the decorations, hit the stores and write the Christmas cards. There is truly a feeling that goes with the Season!

I am realizing that the whirlwind is upon me. Tonight, JJ gets home for a week of Thanksgiving break. Kateri comes in on Monday. Next week will come and go so quickly! We have plans for family activities like spending a day at Knott’s Berry Farm and of course a big dinner with lots of friends for Thanksgiving. Then, the week will be over, the kids will fly back to school and I’ll stand in the whirlwind that is “the last days before Christmas”. There will be the flurry of decorating. The shopping for everyone. The endless wrapping. The writing and addressing of Christmas cards. The string of parties. The calendar is already so full until the end of the year! It seems that as a military spouse, this time of year gets overloaded with parties. Yes, there are the parties with civilian friends and people from school, but it seems that the social gatherings with others whom we are connected by the military are abundant.

So, it’s time to shop for a great party outfit, or two, double check the calendar and try not to get stressed!

To the Holidays!

Have a great day~

Okay, seriously? I am freaking out about the fact that some people in my town already have CHRISTMAS lights, wreaths and decorations out -I’m considering writing legislation that bans their placement prior to Thanksgiving, but that’s a whole other story- getting back on-point, you’ve already gone to an ORNAMENT exchange?! WHAT?!

Lately this topic has been sending me off the deep end and has caused me to wonder: Are we so busy that we have to begin holidays prior to another? Or is it that people are still in the mode of outdoing one another?

I think I’m going to set out my Easter decor with my Christmas so as to “kill two birds with one stone”. Jesus was born, died and resurrected Day! It’s gonna be HUGE.

Truth be told, I’ve already written, addressed and stamped our Christmas cards. They’ll be in the post the day after Thanksgiving. Keep your eye out for yours!

    Love you,
    Pilar

Pilar-I think you’re on to something big. However, it’ll NEVER fly if you use Jesus’ name. So, if you really want to kill all those birds with one stone, you need to start “Circle of Life” day. THAT will be big!

Jen you are so clever!! Circle of Life Day! I love it! Let’s start it. We’ll have a Christmas tree decorated with stuff from all the holidays. Talk about bringing people from all backgrounds together! OH YES….this is going to be GIGANTIC!!!!
