Sunday Strategy

May 31, 2009

I was grocery shopping yesterday, moving through the store (whinny 6 yr. old in tow), meal planning and thinking about what was already in the fridge, when I realized that I have a pattern of Sunday being the day when I clean everything out and start over again.  When we get home from church on Sundays, I take out all the leftovers from the week (though “week” means more like the last 4 days) and put it all out for lunch.  It’s really the only time I present leftovers and it makes Sunday afternoon easier because I don’t have to prepare a large lunch.  It also gets the fridge cleared out.

With everyone’s busy, family schedules, I’m wondering what some of your “clean it up and clear it out” strategies are.  Share!

Have a great day~

I’ve always made a “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday” casserole. Add a can of cream soup to it and my two boys loved it….right!

My clean it up and clear it out strategies usually include a rake and garbage bags. But you knew that!

I do the same, although not on a specific day. Whenever we have lots of left overs, I just make that meal “left over meal”. As far as toys, I’d say once or twice a year we do toy/ clothes donations (usually around Christmas & Lent). Now that our school year is over, I cleared out the school shelves & got them all organized & already started stock piling paper, erasers, paint, pencils, notebooks for the upcoming year. I love organization & neatness. Clutter drives me nuts.

i usually try to have the kids eat leftovers from the night before for lunch. it cuts down on having the fridge all cluttered up, and it saves on having to buy lunch foods. kill two birds with one stone!

with all the other stuff…if it hangs out in the toy basket for 6 months or so, and i never see it move, i give it away. clothes i tend to go through as i do laundry. if they are holey or too small they go right into a give away bag.

the only thing i haven’t figured out how to control is the mail clutter! and “important paper pile”. still trying to come up with a strategy for those.
