M.O.M. and the Secret Life of Fleas
By mommy of many™. Filed in Uncategorized, children, family life, frustrating, kids, mom, summer |First off, I must give credit where credit is due. The title is Clay’s idea and it was catchy enough that I decided to use it.
I don’t know what’s happening with the poor dog this year, but the flea issue has been unbearable! Every summer we have to treat the yard and the dog, but I’ve never had to treat my house before. I started keeping the dog outside, about a week ago but the problem had already moved it’s way inside. Two mornings ago I treated our playroom carpet, but the issue became apparent in the rest of the house, so yesterday, I set off foggers. I’ve never done this before and was completely afraid that I was going to end up blowing up the house! I enlisted the help of a neighbor’s husband to make sure the pilot light on the hot water heater was out and then room by room, set them off. Then, I loaded the kiddos up and decided what to spend the next several hours doing. We did the Costco shopping and then took dinner to a park. The kids thought it was funny to eat chicken and salad at the playground. We killed the rest of the time by heading to Target.
So far, they seem to have worked. Thank goodness! I was at a point that I didn’t even want to be in the house anymore! I was ready to have JJ pitch the tent in the back yard and give the house to the dog and the fleas.
After it’s all been said and done, the whole thing ran more than $100! Not an inexpensive venture!
But at least I no longer have to outfit myself in long pants, long sleeves and socks before walking through the house!
Ick~
I truly hope the season has been kinder to your pets and your home!
Have a great day~

Well, you know our flea saga from Facebook. Foggers are great (for awhile)- we’ve set them off twice now. Today we saw a big, fat flea on Sprocket’s back walking in his fur- yay. So, Clint gave Sprocket a bath with flea shampoo. Tomorrow we’ll give him more Advantage & possibly fog again, although the house isn’t too bad right now. My favorite is the flea poop- gross.

Check out Shoo tags for fleas and ticks. We are using them on our dog who goes up to the barn 5 days a week and so far, no ticks or fleas. Several other dogs from the barn use them and they are have worked for them also.
