I struggle every day trying not to feel bad for issuing punishments. Unfortunately it's got me into a bad spot with the kids that I'm trying desperately to break before they get any older. Consequences are a part of life and they won't be able to beg, cry their way out of anything when they leave the nest. But more important, I think is that you raise your cildren to be adults that stick to their word and see their decisions played out...how else will they know? As always, doing the hardest job ever...give yourself a raise and a vacation day. Yes, yes, yes, it is hard, but so important to stick to your word.
