Happy Birthday Lex!

April 6, 2010

Lex-Spring Fling 2010

It’s birthday time around the Lang house. It’s kind of a big deal because it’s the very first time I’ve had the “baby” of the family be 4. The biggest breaks I ever had between kiddos was 3 years, so this is a milestone for me. No more babies. No more toddlers. No more diapers. No more potty-training. No more bottles. No more…the list goes on.

April’s a big month this year. My oldest hit official adulthood on the 1st by turning 21 and now the “baby” has broken the record for being the “oldest baby”. I know, I’m being a little weird about it. But it’s new territory for me. Everyone’s in school, can dress themselves, make their own bowls of cereal…

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Luke-Xavier! I’m realizing that no matter what birthday we’re celebrating, you’ll always be my “baby” and probably be a lil bit spoiled ;-)

Have a great day~

Our Easter in Pictures

The day began early, with a visit from the Easter Bunny. He laid out the baskets and scattered eggs in the front yard (and btw-I used up ALL the shredded paper in my shredder and STILL had to resort to using a bag of colored, plastic grass. M.O.M. tried to “go green” on this, but only made it thru 5 baskets)

Everyone woke up early, found their baskets, enjoyed their treats and hunted eggs

Then it was time to get into our Easter clothes & head to Liturgy. Lex didn’t hold up so well

After a nice meal & some relaxing at home, we headed out to explore this rocky beach

So did I!

After the beach we headed home, put in a movie, made popcorn and called it a successful day of celebrating an important event in history and our lives. It was a beautiful Easter!

Now, the kids are on their Spring Break and we are preparing for Clay to return from his deployment. There is MUCH to do this week!

Have a great day~

Green Easter Grass

April 3, 2010

shredder paper

It’s time to put together the Easter baskets. Time to buy a million dollars worth of goodies, grass and eggs.

I went to Target to pick up Easter candy and found that they were completely sold out! SOLD OUT! There was no more Easter grass, no more candy, only pitiful pieces of broken bunny chalk and a few bags of marshmallows. I couldn’t believe it! So off to Vons I went. There wasn’t much of a selection there, but enough that I could feel like I was making progress. But, no Easter grass! What’s with the run on Easter items this year? So, I looked at Big Lots. Same deal-a few pitiful choices of odds and ends but no grass. My final try was late last night, when I had to pick Mariah up from work. There’s a 24hr RiteAid near her work. I picked up a couple bags of candy and reached for the bags of grass they had available. But one bag caught my eye. It was multi-colored and looked like shredded strips of paper. I decided to save my money (call me crazy, but I thought that $2 a bag seemed silly for something I’m going to through away and curse while I’m cleaning up from every nook and cranny of the house) and envisioned the full shredder I have next to my desk. Why buy shredded paper that’s going to be thrown away when I already have plenty of it?! I realize it’s not pretty springtime colors, but there are a few shreds of orange in there. Plus, all the goodies will be on top and you’ll hardly see it anyway.

I’ll take pics of the finished baskets and you can judge for yourself. I think it’s the greenest idea for Easter that this M.O.M. can come up with.

Happy Easter to all those celebrating!

Have a great day~
