Whoa Mama! That’s what I have to say about today’s Kraze Boot Camp class!

“PUSHUPS, JUMPING JACKS, PUSHUPS PLANKS, INCHWORMS, DIPS, DUMBELL ROWS, BAND LATERAL RAISES, JUMP ROPE, BICEP CURLS, JUST TO NAME A FEW OF THE EXERCISES FROM TODAYS UPPER BODY WORKOUT!” This is a direct quote from my trainer’s Facebook page.

I had a 9:30 appointment for a shoulder and back massage and when the therapist touched near my underarm (sorry, don’t know the technical term), he said, “been doing some push-ups?” Geesh! I was thankful for his finding the correct spots to work out after all that upper body work today.

As tired and sore as my arms and shoulders are, I’m not sure I’m looking forward to moving to my legs tomorrow. All I can think is, “stairs”. ~sigh~

Writing down my foods wasn’t as challenging today. I received some helpful breakfast tips after Aaron reviewed yesterday’s activity. I wasn’t able to return the protein powder I bought, but will try to get it done tomorrow. I have strawberries, blueberries, almond milk and bananas (wondering if I can skip the banana in the smoothie) waiting to become a recovery shake, once the correct protein powder is purchased. I keep forgetting to ask why soy protein should be avoided. I know that plenty of people add lots of soy to their diets. Hey Aaron-why do I have to avoid soy-based protein?

Ok-one more day down.

Good stuff!

I too have heard that soy is not the best. I did read somewhere that for children especially it isn’t good & it has been linked to excessive estrogen intake? Something like an infant being fed soy formula consumes the equivalent (in estrogen) of 5 birth control pills in a day’s worth of formula. 100 grams of soy protein equates to 1 birth control pill (in estrogen amounts). I remember reading about it when I had to put Coby on formula (we didn’t feed him soy obviously after reading those articles!!!)

let me know what Aaron says about Soy because that is the type of protein powder I use…..

    Jen,

I will say that Alexis has a pretty good reasoning for why you should avoid soy protein.

Estrogen production is a BIG one, as well as Food allergies in kids, and adults as well. They are tracing a lot of people’s food allergies back to an over-consumption of soy products. Not sure on the specifics, but its becoming an issue across the country.

What she didn’t address is the importance of having a Recovery Shake/Drink immediately following your workout. There are many different types of ‘protein powder’s’ out there, but what you NEED is a Whey Isolate Protein for post workout. This type of protein is absorbed the quickest into your blood stream with amino acids rushing to repair the muscles your just broke down using…hence the soreness you experienced within the first couple weeks of joining Bootcamp.
