An Eye For Detail
February 8, 2011It’s less and less often that the table gets set and all the food put into pretty bowls and platters and placed upon the table to everyone sitting around, waiting to eat. More so, the food gets cooked and the kiddos line up in the kitchen and I put the food on their plates, cafeteria style, and they take it to the table, say Grace and eat. But Gabi (6 yrs) LOVES the “Spread Out” dinner-meaning the table is set, etc.
So tonight, she took it upon herself to set the table and make sure we would all sit down and eat. She thought about what is pretty and what is functional and I LOVE that! She went to the front yard, picked the flowers, placed them in the center of the fruit bowl and placed the bowl in the middle of the table. I LOVE it when my girls do these kinds of things. It tells me that they’ve seen me do these sorts of things and enjoyed it and want to duplicate it. I have 2 other daughters who have really picked up this particular gift and display it whenever they are able.

So, tonight, dinner will be served in pretty bowls, with everyone sitting around, passing the food. And all because a 6 yr old decided it was important.
Beautiful!
