A Thursday Morning Full of Good Stuff

June 10, 2010

Yea! It’s Thursday! I waiting for it to be here because I knew it meant that my deadline for the boards would be behind me and all the frantic work would be done. And I was right!

I’m happy with how they turned out. I’m also thankful to Kateri and Allie for helping me cut out all those pictures! Today I’ll put out the girls baby books and photo albums and Ta Dah…Done!

But wait! There’s more Good Stuff on this Thursday morn!
My sister, Katie, arrived yesterday, for a visit. She’ll be here nearly a week. This means that there are 4 of the 9 Eason siblings in one spot. Kateri and a friend of ours joined us last night and we all spent some time at my favorite restaurant, Costa Brava. I love that place!

And there’s even MORE Good Stuff!
I was recently interviewed for a series on mothers of large families and the interview is now posted. You can find it at the Homemaking Cottage.

I’m hoping that the good feelings that Thursday has started with will continue throughout the day!
Happy Thursday~

I Had To!

March 22, 2010

Sometimes you come across something so ridiculously disgusting sounding that you just have to give it a try.

I happened to be in World Market today and came across this

I was disgusted and intrigued and had to buy it. I’m a huge fan of chocolate but not so much on the bacon. I figured I’d bring it home and let my brother and the kiddos give it a try.

Ted wasn’t sure why the heck I’d buy such a thing in the first place, but was willing to give it a (reluctant) try.

You can probably interpret this look on your own.

Max was just happy that I was offering him some chocolate

Then it was my turn

carefully taking a bite

Hmmm…yep, one piece is definitely enough

But there was some left, so Ted decided to go back for seconds

Well, that was our little experiment for the day. I’d have to say that while it wasn’t completely disgusting, I’d have no problem passing it up on the shelf next time.

Have a good day~

Extra Moussey Chocolate Mousse

February 22, 2010

I’m home from work with Luke-Xavier today because he’s not feeling well and when I’m home I LOVE to be in the kitchen.

I decided to make a super easy treat since I have a little time.

2 pkgs of Dr. Oetker Dark Chocolate Truffle Mousse
2 cups milk
1-12oz. tub of extra creamy cool whip

Follow directions on pkgs of mousse. Fold in the entire container of Cool Whip. Chill 2 hours and EAT!

Super easy and extra moussey! Yum!

Have a great day~

It Feels Like Day Bazillion in Bed!

February 16, 2009

So, here I sit (for no more than 1/2 hour at a time) in bed.  This means that surgery went well and that I’m on the road to recovery.  It also means that when I’m not asleep, I’m lying down because sitting or standing for too long bring great discomfort.  Ugh!  I’ve also learned that having surgery is nothing like having a baby.  After a baby I’m on my feet and ready to go!  The pain meds and softners and the such that they give me go untouched and I hit the ground Dancing.  Guess what…….not so with surgery!  BRING ON the pain meds and all such softners!  I had meant to get out of the hospital and document each day of recovery, here, for all to see.  Hmmm……it was a good plan but an illinformed one!  The first few blogs would have looked something like this;

Day 1-hooked to many things still.  Pain meds please!  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Day 2-out of the hopital.  Staying with amazing friends who are treating me like a princess!  Gave me their room!  Pain meds please! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Day 3-tried to sit up for ANY length of time today.  BAD idea!  Pain meds please! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Day 4-had company.  Sat up for more than 1/2 an hour.  Pain meds please! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So, you get the idea!  I came home after a few days of being treated like royalty and it was JUST what I needed.  Many many many thanks go out for those couple of days!  BUT, I got home and the pampering didn’t stop! I was walked to my room where a new (to me) flat screen tv was perched atop my curio and all hooked up to the wonderfullness that is Apple TV!  Uh huh!  This means that all 14,ooo + pictures that are on my lovely iMac can now roll across my wonderful, new TV playing to all my favorite songs from my iTunes library.  Oh yeah!  And it didn’t end there.  On Valentine’s Day, 6, yes 6 of my favorite truffles from Mr. DeGroot showed up wrapped all pretty and tempting me to indulge in sweet, richness from my sickbed.  I’m gonna have to be careful not to gain tons of weight while I lie here and not only because of wonderful chocolate.  Each night a yummy meal is being delivered to our door by the many fabulous people in our lives!  I tell you, people….watch out!  A monster is surely being created!  I am literally being locked in this room with the TV, my phone, plenty of books and a laptop!  Clay has done a marvelous job of keeping the little ones away from the door and I text him when I’m ready for food, coffee, more water or any odd request I may have.  It’s FABULOUS!  I may NEVER get better!

~sigh~ alright, I know that my reality and Dancing days are only a couple of weeks away, but until then, I’m gonna enjoy this pamered life!  This Mommy of Many has never experienced anything like it.  Whoo Hoo!

Have a great day~

Something Sweet From My Past

August 15, 2008

Last week when my sister left, Kateri was able to take the road trip with her and spend a few days in N. Cal. They were able to spend time visiting family and some of our favorite spots up there. They sent me pics from visiting Lake Tahoe and it made me want to pack the kids up and go!

One of our all-time favorite places to visit when we’re up north is the town of Nevada City. When I lived in N. Cal. I loved it and would visit the quaint shops and a favorite restaraunt. It holds some really good memories for me. It also happens to be the home of The Truffle Shop. I’ve talked about my love of chocolate before and I’d have to credit De Groot Truffles and the The Truffle Shop with really fine tuning my chocolate snobbery. Who can argue with how amazing the “Chocolate god’s” truffles are, when they’ve been enjoyed by the White House and the Vatican?! I hardly ever make a trip up N. so De Groot Chocolate is a sweet memory for me (though, all of the chocolates can be ordered online). But God bless my wonderful daughter and my family that was with her, because they took the time to go to the shop and she brought me home 2 amazing truffles! My younger kids thought I was nuts when I took the box and did the Happy Dance of Chocolate Joy. I savored every bit of both of the truffles and didn’t share a single bite! (I’m usually pretty good about sharing). If you are ever in Nevada City be sure to treat yourself to an amazing chocolate experience and if your clicking finger happens to have a chocolate craving, try ordering online. You will be happy you did!

Have a great day~
